MetaboliCity

Urban Grow-Labs

If you are interested in attending the Goldsmiths Design 2010 private view, where my work will be on show, you would be very welcome - just email me so I can make sure you receive an invitation.

With four weeks to go until assessment, my final year project is really shaping up!

This project aims to make consumer food choices easier and simpler, by negotiating issues of ethics, food miles and animal welfare, and balancing them with the demands of nutrition, budget, location and time.

My solution is Eat Right: a web-based service to help people eat sustainably. It includes a healthy, ethical, seasonal meal planner, which can be tailored to fit any user’s local area and budget. Users can submit their own seasonal recipes, and through workshops, share them with the local community. Volunteers can register to ‘pick up extra’ – a shopping service for an elderly neighbour. Shops can submit products to Eat Right, and receive a sustainable star rating from their local community. Food growers and allotment owners can distribute surplus crops through the website.

Thank you. I am applying for the PAICE award through Goldsmiths, which offers money and mentor support for making a project real after uni. I would like to launch it, but I wouldn't know where to start on my own! So if I get the award that would help me to do it.
